Gelati Gasparini: Ensuring sustainable market expansion

The chance

Gelati Gasparini has been producing ice cream in Basel for almost 70 years. In 2002, the company was taken over by the non-profit Gesellschaft für Arbeit und Wohnen (gaw), which creates supervised jobs for people with mental disabilities. Much of the ice cream production is done by hand. But sustainable growth cannot be achieved without digitized and automated production processes such as inventory management, purchasing, delivery and sales. And Gasparini's existing ERP system struggled to handle tasks such as batch management, data exchange, invoicing and regulatory requirements. In addition, customizing data fields was very expensive. During the summer peak season, order production became a bottleneck - employees from other departments had to be called in for invoicing. Therefore, Gasparini was looking for a flexible and scalable successor solution. 

IT - rethought

Standard workflows for process manufacturing as well as extensive experience in the food industry and regulatory requirements were among the most important requirements in Gasparini's specifications. The GUS-OS Suite from GUS Schweiz AG comprehensively covers these requirements. The high scalability and flexibility as well as intuitive, user-friendly and clear modules also spoke in favor of GUS-OS. In addition, GUS provided direct and permanent contact persons. With the GUS-OS Suite, Gasparini can now create its own reports and evaluations and design forms according to individual requirements. Changes to data fields no longer require expensive developer input, but just a few mouse clicks. In addition, the GUS-OS Suite can be easily integrated with gaw's Abacus core system for accounting and human resources via an interface.
