The beer yeast specialist Leiber GmbH relies on the standards of the central ERP solution GUS-OS Suite as well as third-party solutions and in-house developments for its comprehensive digitalization.
The chance
The GUS-OS Suite has served as the central IT and application solution for beer yeast specialist Leiber since its introduction in early 2017. In addition to the standard business functionalities, the company uses the software for archive and document management, the laboratory and financial accounting. Furthermore, the GUS-OS Suite makes it possible to integrate in-house developments and other systems under the uniform system umbrella and with a uniform user interface. Leiber has made numerous use of this option in recent years to drive forward its digitalization and at the same time prevent IT proliferation. As a rule, Leiber software developers (with the CIS developer license), CIS specialists, internal Leiber IT infrastructure colleagues and employees from the specialist departments were involved.
IT - rethought
Since 2017, Leiber has digitized numerous business processes and the associated documents. One example is the fully integrated XRM system, which has been partially replaced by GUS-OS's own functions. The IT team at Leiber created the functions required above and beyond the standard by developing them in-house as part of the GUS-OS standard. Workflows in the "Research & Development" department that were previously supported by Excel are now also integrated into the standard system. In addition, digitized checklists are part of the digitization program at Leiber, for example for machine maintenance, as well as a new supplier portal that automates the collection and delivery of the raw material wet yeast from the breweries. The GUS-OS Suite 's Digital Hub is an important tool for integrating the various IT processes. It allows the ERP solution to be connected to external systems via standardized interfaces (REST, Representational State Transfer). Leiber has also connected an external service provider for warehouse and shipping logistics to the GUS-OS Suite in this way.
