The GUS-OS Suite ERP solution is increasingly taking on the role of control and data center at the natural remedies producer Bombastus . The system ensures that the right data is available in the right place. Among other things, Bombastus has connected its web store to this ERP basis.

The chance

At Bombastus , end customers have recently become even more important. Even before the COVID pandemic, they expected to be able to obtain product information directly from the manufacturer and purchase the products there. Until now, Bombastus has sold its range almost exclusively through pharmacies and wholesalers. In spring 2020, Bombastus therefore decided to implement its own online store for customers. The main challenge here was to provide all information on around 200 products, the associated version management and other texts and images as fully automatically as possible via the web store and to implement the purchasing process. As these products, their sizes and versions are already managed digitally in the ERP system, the GUS-OS Suite was also to form the basis for the web store. A separate software solution was therefore out of the question.

IT - rethought

The Bombastus employees implemented the entire web project, including all business processes, within a year together with experts from the GUS Group. In order to connect the web store with the ERP system as a data hub, they put the previous website on a new technical footing - also so that the content is optimally displayed on all mobile devices. Bombastus was able to connect the necessary content management system using the GUS-OS standard and its predefined workflows with almost no additional programming. Bombastus also developed a completely new process for order picking logistics with the GUS-OS Suite, as this differs significantly in the end customer business from the wholesale business. The GUS-OS Digital Hub, which makes the processes of the ERP solution accessible to third-party systems within and outside the company, served as the basic technology for connecting the web store to the GUS-OS Suite.

Fit for the future

With the GUS-OS Suite and the GUS-OS Digital Hub, Bombastus benefits from the following advantages in particular:

  • The standard workflows and the workflow engine of the GUS-OS Suite enable flexible modeling of business processes with almost no additional programming
  • Thanks to the quality management of the ERP solution, the validation process of changes (change management) of the ERP system at Bombastus is now 100 percent paperless
  • Bombastus can use the GUS-OS Digital Hub Service to make the processes and data of its ERP solution accessible to specific third-party systems, even outside the company
  • The flexible and easy customization of the standard workflows has greatly accelerated and simplified the implementation of the webshop
  • The webshop went live fully functional and on schedule after one year
  • The web store obtains all necessary (product) information automatically from the GUS-OS Suite
  • The entire process, from distribution to order picking, is controlled completely digitally by the GUS-OS Suite
