GUS Group releases a new version of the Product Data Management module in its ERP solution.
The EU's Food Information Regulation requires and regulates adequately labeled foods to protect consumers. The GUS-OS Suite, the GUS Group's ERP solution, now automates this labeling. The newly designed "GUS-OS Product Data Management" module automatically collects and calculates all relevant product declaration information.
Automatic food labeling
The improved GUS-OS module uses the basic data maintained in production or product development, in particular the type and quantity of materials used and parts lists. The system always stores basic data such as nutrients, allergens or ingredients at the level of the purchased parts (raw materials) in order to create the ingredient list and the nutritional value extrapolation. The solution is then able to automatically provide the evaluations at the level of the finished product via an extrapolation along the bill of materials. This speeds up and simplifies product labeling considerably.
For both allergens and nutritional values, GUS-OS product data management performs a multi-level parts list resolution. In this way, the basic data used is determined transparently across all production stages and transferred to the respective product. This enables users to view the development of nutrients and allergens from one production stage to the next. The solution calculates the calorific and nutritional values per 100 grams and per portion. It also calculates the bread units and the proportion of the reference value (formerly: "recommended daily requirement according to GDA") and displays this information accordingly.

"The new module accesses the master data available in the ERP system directly. This eliminates the need for duplicate and redundant data storage or interfaces to third-party systems."
Product data management also for individual requirements
GUS-OS Product Data Management not only automates labeling in accordance with the requirements of the EU Food Information Regulation. The solution also addresses individual consumer requirements for foods such as halal, kosher, vegetarian or vegan products. Any additional characteristics can be defined for them in GUS-OS so that they can later be assigned to specific raw materials and information can be provided about them after extrapolation to the finished product level.
GUS-OS Product Data Management has a translation function for the international distribution of food products. It translates the individual basic data into different foreign languages. This means that manufacturers are later able to automatically output the specifications of the end products in the desired language.
